Which of my skills are transferable to UX?

You could make a great UX researcher or UX strategist if you are curious, love talking to people, love discovering and articulating problems, and love ideating on some of the problems you uncover. You could make a great UX designer if you are analytical, like to translate problems and solutions into sketches and wireframes, and iterative. You like to keep noodling on solutions and improving them with time. We also work with you 1:1 to really dig into your past work experiences to see how we can help you highlight the transferrable skills that you have into a UX resume and LinkedIn profile.

Is this feasible to do if I’m not artistic?

Absolutely! If you are more analytical and have great problem-solving skills and verbal skills, you could become a great UX researcher or UX strategist, maybe even a Product Manager.

What does the curriculum cover?

We cover remote research methods, practice with UI design tools and prototyping/pretotyping/ ideation methods. We showcase how design relates to business strategy, marketing, and technical/operations constraints. This helps you better communicate your ideas to other UX professionals, as well as potential future stakeholders like CEOs, investors and complex corporate teams. We also help you develop advanced UX skillsets like product positioning, product scoping, and product strategy.

How long will it take me to get really good at doing this so that I can make money at it?

Some of our most successful students have become UX researchers and UX designers within 2-4 months of graduating from the cohort. Honestly, it depends on your level of commitment. If you put effort into doing the homework during the cohort, and invest the necessary time into preparing your resume and portfolio as the course ends, you’ll be on track for success.

Will I get it RIGHT?

Honestly, UX requires a lot of non-linear thinking. Remember, there is no one RIGHT answer. We are constantly iterating and improving upon our ideas to increase the product’s reach. We also use research methods to help us reduce the chance of product failure once we “launch” our product to the market. UX design can be subjective, but we teach you the research and design methods you need to navigate this uncertainty and pitch your ideas with confidence. You will apply both qualitative and quantitative UX methods to get close to “right”. Check out our videos on the right mindsets to have as you learn UX design!

How do I build a portfolio in this course?

The project topic you choose will take you all the way through the 4-month live UX course and will be the lens through which you walk through the end-to-end design process. The final 2 weeks of the course are spent on portfolio and resume presentation, as well as practicing interview skills. We also help you rebrand your past professional work to come up with 1-2 additional portfolio pieces so that you can really showcase your transferrable skills.

How will you help me find a UX job?

We hop on 1:1 calls with you for up to 3 months after the course ends for portfolio and resume reviews, interview and negotiations practice, as well as to put you in touch with recruiters based on your personal interests. We are always available to chat even after you graduate from the course and go through your job search process. This support continues for 3 months after you graduate. You will also have access to group coaching alumni office hours for life, hosted once every 2 weeks! At Ideate Labs, we promise to help you land 6-figure UX job offers or coach you till you get it.

How will learning UX UI help my startup or business?

Good UI UX is good business. You will learn about how UI UX best practices help increase referral rates, conversions, and ultimately revenue. We teach both qualitative and quantitative methods.

What happens if I register for the 4-month Live UX course but cannot attend?

The registration fee is non-refundable. We will save your seat for a future cohort if you are unable to attend the cohort you registered for.
